You Are Not Alone

How precious is your unfailing love, O God! – Psalm 36:7

Several people have told me lately that they feel alone. I dedicate this to those courageous women, and to anyone else feeling this way.

It’s often hard to feel God’s presence in our lives when we’re going through difficult times – especially when the mantles of depression, shame, anxiety, self-doubt, negative self-talk, or hurt from outside sources weigh us down. We all feel alone and isolated sometimes. Every single one of us. Sometimes, it might even feel like we’re the only ones having specific experiences or thoughts or we might worry that we will be judged if we share what we’re going through or thinking. I’m here to tell you, you’re not the only one and you’re not alone. Ever. God loves you unconditionally, in all of it.

John 15:16 – “You didn’t choose me. I chose you.”

His message is one of hope! The emphasis in the above statements is on the word “feel, and how we feel doesn’t always reflect the truth. The truth is, we are never alone. You are never alone.  God chose you is always with you. Always. Even if it doesn’t feel that way. It’s the hardest to feel God’s presence when you’re in the thick of those feelings, but He’s right there with you – carrying you “Footprints in the Sand”-style. He doesn’t judge you and wants you to rest in him. He wants you to receive his love and believe him when he tells the truth of how he feels about you. You can share anything with God. You don’t have to hide your heart from him. He created you and already knows what you’re going to think, say, and do before any of it actually occurs. He loves you in all of it . Good or bad, he loves you with a love so deep you may never understand it. He already knows all everything about you and wants you to share yourself with him completely. You can trust your heart to him – after all, he created it – and when you do, he will heal you. God just plain loves you. God is a perfect and GOOD Father. You can trust yourself to his care and guidance. He will not lead you astray.

Romans 5:8 – God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Exodus 14:14 – “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

This is the perfect description of his love for us:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 – “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Joshua 1:9  – This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

Isaiah 30:21 – Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”

Romans 5:1-5 – 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have a peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only that, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Psalm 91:14-1614 The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. 15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. 16 I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

Matthew 11:28-30 – Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Isaiah 40:31 ESV – But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Deuteronomy 1:30 – The Lord your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you in Egypt before your eyes.

Isaiah 41:10 – Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Romans 8:31 – What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Isaiah 43:2 – When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

My prayer for you:

My beautiful sister, I pray that you feel the love and truth of God’s words about his unfailing, unconditional love for you. I pray that God’s love softens your heart until you feel him pouring into it, filling each crack with his love, mercy, goodness, and grace, until you overflow with his peace. I pray that you accept and recognize his love in your life and allow yourself to feel it with overflowing gratitude every single day. Jesus died for you, my sister. You. God, I ask that You help this woman recognize that she is Your beautiful creation. Help her recognize that You are trustworthy, and she can offer you her heart with full vulnerability and trust. Thank you for helping her know, with everything that she is, that you are for her. Amen.

You are loved.

    1. Thank you so much for sharing and being vulnerable. Sometimes the stuff we tell ourselves can make things seem pretty dark. In those moments, the Truth shines a light on things and really does set us free – but we just need a reminder to seek it out. God is SO GOOD and he’s always there for us! I’m so glad the blog helped. Thank you for the encouragement!
