The Invitation

Jesus has transformed my life in the most beautiful and profound ways, all beyond my wildest imaginings. He’s filled me with a hope and peace that I can’t even begin to explain. I was missing out on, well… everything, until I found him. My life was only a half-life, but I didn’t even know it. Now, I recognize how much I was missing and my deepest desire is for others to experience this hope and comfort for themselves.

I will never force my beliefs on someone, but I would not be a good person if I sat on this “secret” and didn’t share it. I want to shout His praises from the rooftops! So, I have some questions for you and I pray you really ponder the answers: Do you know Jesus? Have you ever invited Him into your heart?

If you don’t know Him yet, He wants to know you. He’s been waiting for you. For you. Jesus will never force his way in. He’s polite like that. Instead, he’ll let you get curious about Him, and while he waits for you to welcome Him in, he’ll show up for you in as many ways as you will allow.

Jesus will pursue you in the most beautiful manner. He is magnificent, patient, forgiving, kind, and loving and will demonstrate his faithfulness to you in the most profound ways. Jesus wants you to choose Him. To be faithful to Him. You are God’s child, and Jesus is His Son. That makes Him your brother. In addition to being your salvation, Jesus is your family. Are you ready to meet Him – to engage with Him?

Romans 10:9-10 (NLT) – 9If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in Him will never be disgraced.”

For those of you who already know Jesus, do you really know Him, or are you merely acquainted?  Has your faith cooled to lukewarm, or was it always that temperature? Have you ever asked Him into your heart and really let Him in? If so, are you still close, or have you distanced yourself over the years? Have you ever entrusted Him with the deepest, darkest, most broken pieces and parts of you? Have you let Jesus see all of you for who you really are?

We often forget, hiding from Him is futile. When you guard your heart against Him and hide yourself, you wall yourself off from the miracle that is Him. He already knows every single thing about you and wants you to know Him in return. Take comfort in the realization that Jesus is already deeply familiar with every single detail of you, the good and the bad, and He loves you anyway. Jesus loves all of you. He knows your thoughts before you have them. He knows the lightest and darkest parts of your heart because he painstakingly created it. You can trust Him.

Is your relationship with Him deep and intimate or merely informed? How far have you let Him in?

Jesus is waiting for you to invite him in.

Whether brand new to faith or seasoned and lukewarm, Jesus wants to know you on a deeper level. He wants to engage with you and teach you how to be loved – and how deeply you deserve to be loved. He wants to bring you a peace that will blow your mind in the best way possible. A life with Jesus isn’t free from difficulty or strife, but you’ll never walk alone through any of that, ever again. He’ll lead you through the hard times, walking with you every step of the way. During the worst parts, he’ll carry you in his loving arms. He’ll fill your heart with grace and love like you’ve never known. He’ll help you find hope and peace in the chaos.

Philippians 4:7 (NLT) – Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

This invitation is only the beginning. When you commit yourself to Jesus, He will transform your life. If you believe in Him and allow Him into your heart, follow Him, pray, and spend time getting to know Him through the Word, you will never be the same. If you don’t already have one, ask God to guide you to a good, Jesus-loving church home that teaches the Bible. Surround yourself with other believers so that they can pray for you and uplift you in your transformation. Cultivate your relationship with Jesus like it’s the most important thing you’ll ever do. Because it is.

When you’re ready to (re)invite Him into your heart, pray this prayer:

Jesus, I open my heart to You. I believe in You. I choose You. I invite You in. I offer You everything that I am and I ask for Your forgiveness, grace, and mercy for all my wrongs and sins. I repent, Lord. You are everything, and I am broken without you. I ask for You to transform me into your likeness, heal me, and make me whole in You. Take over my life, God. Open my eyes to Your wonders, so I see You everywhere. Open my ears, so I hear Your call. Soften and open my heart to You and Your ways and teach it to beat for You. Help me learn to accept Your love and demonstrate it in the world. Fill me so full of it, that Your love overflows from me and into the hearts of every person around me. Transform, change, and mold my desires, thoughts, words, and actions so that my life aligns with You. Lord, You are trustworthy. Thank you for loving me. Thank You for the patience, grace, and mercy you have already shown me. Thank You for filling me with Your hope. I love You. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
