One Powerful Tip to Transform Your Life

Do you want to know a trick to that turns blah days into great days – while also adding depth, meaning, and beauty to them? I call it a God Morning. IMHO, best beginning of anything is to start with Jesus. Seize your day and begin it with Him! My life transformed when I changed my morning routine. Now, before I even roll out of bed, I dedicate my life to Him and say prayers of gratitude for the blessings in my life, seen and unseen. Then I get up and do a YouVersion devotion and take the dogs for a walk.

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. Psalm 59:16

It’s still dark while we mosey around the neighborhood, but I love that! Seeing the stars is an awe-inspiring reminder that the God of the universe loves me enough to care about my cares and anxieties, and the smallest details of my life – so much so, he even numbered the hairs on my head. While we walk, I pray, listen, and am mindful of the world around me. Afterward, I read, write, study the Bible, or work on my business. Then I listen to a sermon or personal development podcast while I get ready for work.

It’s the one time I just get to be me, with no other role or obligations. Not a wife, not a mom, not an employee, no other face to wear. Just me. A child of the One True King.

After that, my family gets up, and I use the peace I feel to show them I love them before they head out. I was never a morning person before. However, I started doing this about eight months ago, and now I look forward to getting up dark and early because God, gratitude, peace, and self-care set a phenomenal tone for my whole day and overflow from me to the other people in my life.

Weekly Wise Counsel: My extensive morning routine might not work for you, but consider adding one baby step to own your early hours – even if it’s just for 10-15 minutes. A few minutes of prayer, gratitude, meditation, exercise, journaling, reading, or performing whatever other healthy habit you want makes all the difference in the world. My one rule – no social media or email allowed! Start the day with God’s agenda, not the world’s.

Reflection: What fills your cup? How would your life change if you started your day by doing something to rejuvenate yourself? Remember, when your needs are met, you’re a lot more likely to overflow lovingkindness to others.

Prayer: God, help this woman feel Your loving presence, from before she opens her eyes in the morning until she drifts off into a peaceful sleep at night. You are her refuge and her strength. Help her remember to seek you always and in all ways. Amen.

Be blessed!
