Have you ever thought about the types of seeds you’re planting in people’s lives? We’re always planting them. Good or bad, fruitful or diseased, we sprinkle them everywhere we go, around every person we meet. We might even toss out different types of seeds on different days, depending on our mood, mindset, heart, or life situation.
Hosea 10:12 ESV – Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and rain righteousness upon you.
A devotion I’m reading helped me recognize that I’ve spent my life as a Christian trying to sew healthy seeds to make up for the diseased ones I unwittingly planted in people’s lives before I knew Jesus. I didn’t know what I didn’t know! Back then, I was like a bitter, mouthy teenager who thought they knew everything, and unfortunately, I was very convincing with my views.
I’ll spend my life making up for that. To anyone I may have led astray, I apologize. I was wrong. I would never want my previous bitter, incorrect, and uninformed views to rob you of the opportunity to know forgiveness and hope the way I do now.
I had no idea about God’s unlimited love, forgiveness, grace, or mercy. I was clueless about his joy and peace. I had no way of knowing until he lovingly and persistently pursued me until I collapsed, so exhausted from running from him that I couldn’t take one more step of my own volition. Then, he showered his life-giving gifts on me. He picked me up and carried me. He pulled me from the depths of my darkest despair and helped me experience his beautiful essence. He freed me.
God never gave up on me – even when I did. Instead, he gave me a newfound hope! He graciously bestowed all these things upon me when I certainly did not deserve them. I would never want the meaningless words of my past to rob someone of even one precious millisecond of knowing their Father and Jesus, or the experiencing the peace of the presence of the Holy Ghost.
God gives you and me a new opportunity to choose to plant the right seeds every single day. His seeds. Seeds of goodness, hope, life, and love. Choose your seeds wisely.
God loves you. So do I.

Ephesians 3:14-21 – 14 For this reason I kneel before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
