You Are Covered With His Feathers

How are you feeling today?

Calm? Distraught? Joyful? Anxious? Courageous? Fearful? Grounded? Uprooted?  Frustrated? Peaceful? Something else altogether?

Now, more than ever, it’s so easy to get distracted by the concerns of the world and the feelings our circumstances inspire, that we can forget we have an almighty Father who loves us. However, our feelings don’t always reflect the truth of his love for us, and they can blind us to his presence in our lives.

The glorious truth is he’s always with you, regardless of how difficult it is to see him. He is always listening to your prayers and working for our best interests. Jesus is for you and watching over you. He alone is your hope and rescue, your champion and protector.

With today’s post, we’re continuing the Overflowing Jesus Journal prompts, and this is Day 2. If you missed it, here is the Day 1 prompt.

Read over this verse and let it sink into your soul before you begin writing.

Psalm 91:2-42 This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;  he is my God, and I trust him. 3 For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. 4 He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings.  His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

Day 2 Prompts:

  • Think back on a time God comforted you. How did it feel to be covered with his feathers and sheltered in his wings? If you’re new to the faith or can’t recall having that type of experience, write down how you imagine it would feel.
  • Write a prayer, placing your full trust in him. Let him be your refuge.
  • Cast your fears, worries, and anxieties on him, and thank him for protecting you.
  • Write three things you’re grateful for. (No repeats from previous entries!)

If this helped you, please click the “Like” star, follow the blog, and share the goodness with your friends! You never know who needs encouragement.

Would you like to (re)invite Jesus into your heart? If so, congratulations, sister! This post is for you.

  1. Thank you, Julie, for this! I am praising Our Father for this timing, for your timing, your being Julie, in creating, in sharing this. I am in circumstances that quiet time… “being still and know I am God”… is forefront, calling my heart and mind for focus on Gods direction.
I bought a prayer journal in March!
    This is perfect!

    1. Thank you so much! I’m so happy to hear it resonated with you! God is such an amazing Father and taking the time to be still with him is a beautiful, life changing practice. We could all use a little (or a lot) more of that!
