How to Make Your Life Overflow with Joy – Day 10

Romans 15:13 NLT –  I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Joy is one of the greatest gifts from heaven. Simply taking the time to focus on the things that fill our cups, and our gratitude for those beautiful gifts, is enough to put us in a joyful mindset and help us stay there. It’s hard to be anxious or depressed while you’re thinking about how much you have to be thankful for. Let’s take this a step further than thinking and solidify that joy in your soul.

Writing a list that defines the situations, people, places, or events that make you brim over with happiness, and why you’re thankful for them, cements those moments in your mind and helps you remember instances of bliss you previously forgot about. It also allows you to recognize how you can reproduce them to add more joy to your life.

Overflowing Jesus Journal: Day 10

Read the following verses and let them sink into your soul.

Philippians 4:4 ESV – Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.

Galatians 5:22 ESV – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

John 16:24 ESV – Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

John 15:11 ESV – These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

Now ask yourself the following question:

What brings you joy?

When you’re ready, journal the following:

  • Write a prayer thanking God for every single (healthy) thing you can think of that adds joy to your life. Fill the page.
    • Consider why they make you feel that way. List specifics.
  • Write a plan that details how you will incorporate more joy in your life. Make it simple and easily actionable. A baby step, if you will. Nothing overwhelming.
  • Thank God for three blessings you received in the last 24 hours. They can be the tiniest things. Remember, no repeats from previous journal entries!
