Welcome back, friend!
This your Day 21 prayer journal prompt. I pray your prayer journaling experience is blowing your mind. Or relaxing it. Perhaps both… Either way, I sincerely hope it’s amazing for you! For me, it’s been a joyful journey into God’s grace and goodness. My prayer for you is that it brings you peace, clarity, and healing, and that it connects you to Jesus’s love for you.
If this is your first time reading, or your first time back in a while, welcome! We are doing 40 days of prayer journal prompts and I hope you’ll join us. I normally accompany each with a story, but this week’s prompts, Days 15-23, will be simpler because I’m taking a some time to relax, just be with God, and enjoy my family.
I can’t exactly write on how to overcome overwhelm if I don’t live out the principles I teach and make time to rest, connect, and care for myself! One way I’ll do that is through continuing my own prayer journal.
Overflowing Jesus Journal: Day 21 Prompt:
Read the verse, below. Really turn it over in your mind and chew on it. Bear in mind, there’s a difference between stewarding our blessings and God-given responsibilities and “striving.” To me, striving means we are trying to take something on ourselves that should be God’s responsibility, and then try do it for him. Essentially, we are trying to take what should be his right out of his capable hands. As if we could ever to it better… As you read, pray for God to reveal the areas of striving in your life.
Psalm 46:10 NASB – 10 “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
When you’re ready, write the following as a prayer:
- Name an area of your life where you’ve tried to “take over” for God. Something you’re having a hard time trusting him with. If you’re holding onto multiple things write them all down.
- Ask God to show you how cease your striving and walk in a state of complete trust. What would that look like in your life? Really envision living every single day knowing, with every fiber of your being, God has your back. He is working all things for your good. Imagine that with as much detail as possible, until you feel it in your bones. Write it all down as a prayer for God to turn what you envisioned into a reality, for you to learn to trust him on that soul-deep level.
- Tell God three things you’re grateful for from the last 24 hours. Remember, no repeats from previous entries!
If this is your first time here, or it’s your first time prayer journaling and you want more journal prompts, start with Day 1. It explains the whole concept. If you like, you can do the posts after the Day 1 post, in chronological order, to get the full healing experience.
No pressure though! If you’re crunched on time, you can also treat them like a buffet and only write on the ones that inspire you or tug at your spirit. This is your journey, I’m thrilled that this little blog is a part of it!
