How To Make Time For God

In your daily life, is it easy to focus on the things that really matter to you, or do you find yourself getting distracted? Do your daily activities align with your priorities? These questions, their answers, and how you act on them can change your life.

The past several posts we’ve taken baby steps toward realizing how our everyday decisions impact our relationships – especially with God and our families – our goals, and our dreams. Let’s continue that discussion.

Many people say the contents of your calendar tell the world your priorities. Today, we’re going to write Jesus into our calendars, literally, but not in just any arbitrary way. In deep, personalized, meaningful ways.

Overflowing Jesus Journal: Day 28

Before we get into the writing, consider the things that make you feel the closest to God. What specific activities or people make you feel the most connected? Pause as long as needed to think about it.

When you’re ready, read the following verse and let it sink into your soul.

Matthew 6:33 (NIV) – But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Now, say a prayer for God to reveal his wisdom to you through your writing, and then journal your answers to the following as a prayer:

  • List all the things you thought of that make you feel the most connected to God.
  • Pick one that you can do on a daily basis. A simple and easy one. Find a way to work that into your schedule every single day. Write your plan and enter it in your calendar. Go through with it, starting today. Note: If your plan includes something outdoorsy, also pick a backup indoor way to connect, in case of inclement weather.
  • What one, non-priority item will you remove from your schedule to make room for Jesus? Why does this matter?
  • Thank God for three things you’re grateful for from the last 24 hours.

Thanks for joining me! If this is your first time here, or it’s your first time prayer journaling and you want more journal prompts, AWESOME! Start with Day 1. It explains the whole concept. If you like, you can do the posts after the Day 1 post, in chronological order, to get the full healing experience. Just click the left button on the post carousel, below, and it will take you to the beginning.

No pressure though! If you’re crunched on time, you can treat them like a buffet, and only write on the ones that inspire you or tug at your spirit. Let the Lord guide you through your process. This is your journey and I’m thrilled that this little blog is a part of it!
