Are the messages you surround yourself with positive, uplifting, faith-based, and hopeful? Or, are they negative, anxiety-provoking, or fear-inducing? How do you feel at the end of the day?
If you want to change your state, start monitoring what you’re taking in. What you listen to affects you. Changing your input changes your internal condition and affects your thoughts. Your thoughts determine your words and your words lead to actions. Therefore, what you allow yourself to take in affects what you put back out into the world.
Overflowing Jesus Journal: Day 31
Challenge: Pray for wisdom and insight throughout your day, then go a whole day without listening to the news or getting on social media. Minimize time with people who speak negativity into your life. Instead, surround yourself with uplifting praise music, hope-filled messages, and positive people.
Proverbs 6:23-26 NIV – Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways.
Philippians 4:8 (NIV) – 8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
- At the end of the day, write down how you feel.
- What was your experience like?
- How do you think you would feel if you surrounded yourself with influences that speak life over you on a regular basis?
- Write a prayer for someone else, by name.
- Thank God for three blessings in your life from the last 24 hours.
